Five ways to reframe your mindset when you don’t get along with your co-workers.

Admit it – we all have someone at work we can’t stand! SO, you really have two choices: resign (tad extreme but would work) OR find a way to work with them and surprisingly the second option ends up better than it sounds.

Here are some ideas to keep in mind to turn your ‘groans’ into GROWTH:

  • Learn a different approach. Everyone learns differently and adapting to others’ learning styles will help you grow as a leader.
  • Consider why their behaviours get to you. This could help you gain insight into your work and personal values or highlight your own self-judgements.
  • Ask how you can work together. This will provide you with an opportunity to be open to them about your working style and be able to compromise to ensure the tasks are completed while supporting each other’s working styles.
  • Focus on the end goal. At the end of the day, you are working towards the same company goal when you focus on this goal your differences will be minimised.
  • Practice patience. This skill is only growing when being tested. So, take a deep breath and remember it’s all in the growth (woooosaaaa)

So as much as you want to let loose that annoying co-worker – remember you are testing your patience, practicing leadership, learning new approaches and being a team player!
